Post Jet Lag

Jet lag is real, and the older we get the longer it takes for us to get our bodies in sync with the new time zone in which we find ourselves. Our adjustment this trip has been compounded by the fact that some food on the plane apparently did not agree with Dianne's stomach, so our day got off to an earlier start yesterday as we made an early morning trip to the Klinikum to make sure there was no need for medicine. Dianne was seen very quickly, got IV fluids, blood tests, chest x-ray, and a clean bill of health from the doctor. We were both very impressed by the care she received. Other than restrictions on mountain climbing (not on her bucket list), the doctor said there is nothing she is not allowed to do. We are so thankful to Matt and Michele for leaving us their rental car so we could drive to the Klinikum. We are also thankful the GPS in their car is programmed in English. There is no telling where we'd have ended up if I had been following directions in German. We spent the morning resting. I did a little shopping and then went with Matt to pick up our rental car. Around noon we went for a walk up toward the pedestrian walk area and were pleasantly surprised to meet up with the entire Conley clan who were out for a bike ride, so we all went to lunch. After lunch we returned to our apartment for a bit of a rest. Matt and Michele have kindly shared their Apple TV hookup with us, so we decided to start rewatching "Land Girls".  The combination of jet lag and the sometimes hypnotic effect of TV soon had us waging a losing battle with staying awake, so after the program we surrendered to jet lag and took naps. After our naps we ventured out again to the Partenkirchen pedestrian zone and had a very satisfying dinner, trout for me and roasted potatoes and soup for Dianne. We capped off the day by eating gelato brought to us by Michele and then called it a day and slept very soundly. All in all, a most pleasant day.
